FMDC Gold medalist dies of suffocation

ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News – 18th March, 2017) : Anam Rustam, a medical student from the Federal Medical and Dental College (FMDC) died two days before receiving her gold medal. Anam was a scholarship student and a topper of her batch. Two days before receiving her prize she passed away due to a gas leak. Reportedly, Anam died of carbon monoxide poisoning after an instant water heater was malfunctioned. FMDC has also announced a gold medal and a cash prize in her name for one student a year on the basis of overall performance at the college.

Anam’s father said that “My daughter was a brilliant student who has been a scholarship holder since the Primary level. I cannot get my daughter back, so it’s my request that government introduces a scholarship so she will be remembered.” Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Akram of Pims said the Anam’s death is a loss for the state. “This year, the medal will be awarded to Anam’s father,” he said.
