The latest reports say that the French President has isolated himself after he tested positive for Covid-19.
PARIS: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 17th, 2020) French President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for Covid-19, the reports said on Thursday.
The French President soon after his reports isolated himself and abondoned all his political and official duties.
French Presidency announced that President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
“The President of the Republic has been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 today,” a statement issued by the Presidency said.
According to reports, Macron underwent a PCR test after he showed initial symptoms.
The Presidency said that Macron would go into isolation for next seven days and would continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance.
Following reports, Macron cancelled all his upcoming trips including a scheduled visit to Lebanon.
The President is investigating as how he contracted COVID-19 and who met him.
However, he attended a European Council heads of state meeting on Dec 10 and Dec 11.
According to reports, French Prime Minister Jean Castex would also go into isolation after meeting with Macron. The PM would not go to the French Senate on Thursday (today) to present government’s vaccine strategy to fight against the virus, the PM office said.
So far, 59,000 people of COVID-19 in France, with recorded over 2.4 million cases of the virus.
