The plant grows naturally in sandy soils and is highly adapted to harsh climatic conditions, making it one of the most important forage plants in desert ecosystems.
The plant plays an important environmental role in supporting sustainable rangelands. It serves as a natural source of feed for livestock and helps improve soil characteristics and limit sand encroachment through its ability to spread and regenerate, thereby enhancing ecological balance and preserving vegetation cover in desert areas.
