Cambridge, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 22 يوليو 2026ء) During his address, the foreign minister stressed that the region is once again at a defining moment, where recent developments have demonstrated how quickly tensions can spread beyond the regional context and affect global security, energy markets, and economic growth. He emphasized that there is no alternative to diplomacy and that lasting stability cannot be secured through military force alone.
The foreign minister affirmed that collective efforts should be directed toward preserving the rules-based international order and creating the conditions for sustainable diplomatic solutions that provide real security and lasting peace, rather than temporary pauses or periodic de-escalation. He stressed that the objective should not merely be the containment of tensions, but the resolution of the underlying issues that generate tension and instability.
Prince Faisal stated that a stable regional order must rest on the core principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, including respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, good-neighborliness, non-aggression, freedom of navigation, adherence to international law, and refraining from providing support to non-state actors. He affirmed that these principles constitute the foundation upon which any stable regional order should be built.
The foreign minister stressed that violations of these principles must carry real costs and be met with accountability, emphasizing that aggression, coercion, interference, and attempts to impose dominance or pursue hegemonic ambitions ultimately generate insecurity and are incompatible with the stable and prosperous region that all seek.
The foreign minister expressed optimism about the region’s future despite current challenges, noting that Saudi Vision 2030 is founded on the belief that development, innovation, and opportunity offer a more promising path than conflict and confrontation. He added that realizing the region’s extraordinary potential requires a stable environment in which governments, businesses, and societies can focus on growth, investment, education, and cooperation rather than recurring crises.
Prince Faisal stressed that the current moment should be used to lay the foundations for a more cooperative and stable regional order based on clear principles, mutual respect, and lasting agreements that deliver peace, security, and prosperity for all.
In concluding his remarks, the foreign minister highlighted the important role of forums such as the Gulf Research Meeting in advancing understanding and generating ideas that contribute to a more stable, prosperous, and cooperative future.
