Shanghai, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 21 يوليو 2026ء) Yousef Ayman Bakhit, from the Royal Commission education in Yanbu, Abdulsalam Abdullah Al-Sulami, from the General Administration of Education in Madinah Region, and Abdulelah Mohammed Al-Saqqaf, from the General Administration of Education in Jeddah Governorate, each won a silver medal. Elias Shaker Al-Faraj, Abdullah Tareq Al-Amer, from the General Administration of Education in Eastern Region, and Fares Mohammed Al-Kunhal, from the General Administration of Education in Riyadh Region, each won a bronze medal.
With this achievement, the Saudi Mathematics Team recorded its best-ever performance at the IMO since making its debut in 2004, raising the Kingdom's overall tally in the competition to 88 international awards: 15 silver medals, 51 bronze medals, and 22 certificates of honor.
The achievement followed a year-long program of intensive preparation and training undertaken by the students under the supervision of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, as part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program. The program includes multiple stages of theoretical and practical scientific training, as well as domestic and overseas training camps, aimed at developing students' mathematical skills and enhancing their readiness to compete internationally. These efforts enable them to represent the Kingdom with distinction in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 objective of developing human capabilities.
The IMO is the world's oldest and most prestigious mathematics competition for secondary school students. Its first edition was held in Romania in 1959 with the participation of seven countries before expanding to include around 120 countries from around the world.
