Greater Sand Plover Highlights Migratory Bird Diversity in Northern Borders Region

Arar, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 20 يوليو 2026ء) Chairman of the Aman Environmental Association Nasser Al-Majlad said the sighting of the greater sand plover is a positive indicator of the region's healthy natural habitats.

He noted that the bird belongs to the plover family and is a common migratory species, distinguished by its robust build, relatively long, thick bill, and long legs that enable it to move easily across sandy environments, coastlines, and exposed mudflats.

Al-Majlad also stated that the continued sightings of migratory birds in Northern Borders Region reflect the quality and stability of the region's ecosystems, underscoring the importance of preserving natural habitats, promoting environmental awareness, and supporting efforts to protect biodiversity, in line with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030 to conserve the environment and develop its natural resources.
