The market dates back to between 1140 AH and 1150 AH, making it one of the oldest historic markets in the mountains of Jazan. For more than three centuries, it served as a center of commercial exchange and a social and cultural gathering place for the people of Fayfa and neighboring villages, helping preserve the local community's customs and traditions.
The market has retained its traditional architectural character, with shops lining stone-paved walkways and surrounded by buildings constructed from local stone, reflecting the distinctive architectural style of Fayfa's mountains. Its shops display pottery, lanterns, coffee-making utensils, antique household items, traditional clothing, woven baskets, and Fayfa's agricultural products, most notably Khawlani coffee, natural honey, millet, ghee, and other local products closely associated with the lives of the area's residents.
