Al-Rass, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 19 يوليو 2026ء) The mosque was designed and built by Eng. Mohammed Al-Khalifa over several years before its official inauguration in 2010. Constructed using rock and reinforced concrete without interior columns, it represents a notable engineering achievement. The designer chose to build the mosque underground in the shape of a rocky cave to take advantage of the soil's natural insulating properties, helping maintain moderate temperatures throughout the year while creating a quiet and comfortable environment for worshippers and protecting the structure from harsh climatic conditions. The mosque serves as a model of architectural innovation and sustainability.

Among its most distinctive engineering features are its complete underground construction and the absence of interior columns, creating a spacious and unobstructed prayer hall. The mosque also incorporates seven skylights that allow natural sunlight to illuminate the interior.

The seven carefully positioned skylights are aligned with the sun's path to maximize natural daylight throughout the day. They also promote continuous natural ventilation by circulating fresh air, reducing the need for electricity for lighting and air conditioning. In addition, the mosque relies on solar energy to meet its lighting needs when required.
