'Hayy Explorers' Cultivates Children's Visual Literacy in Jeddah

Jeddah, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 16 يوليو 2026ء) This initiative offers a comprehensive model for creative education by drawing on the artistic environment of Jeddah’s Hayy Jameel, helping cultivate a generation that is more connected to the arts and better equipped to express itself and innovate.

The initiative’s summer program, As Told by The Land, builds on this vision by engaging children aged six to 15 in a three-month series of activities aligned with the Hayy Arts exhibitions. Drawing on storytelling, movement, and shifting worlds as educational tools, the program encourages participants to explore their surroundings and engage with them through a range of artistic and hands-on experiences.

The program is built around three main themes: Traces and Memory, Routes of Exchange, and Constructed Worlds, offering practical workshops, reading sessions, and collaborations with artists.

Together, these activities encourage children to observe their surroundings, collect traces of the environment, and transform them into creative works that reflect their own perspectives while deepening their connection to place, identity, and culture.

Children are introduced to concepts of environmental and urban transformation, as well as methods of preserving and archiving memory. They also develop skills in drawing, visual expression, critical thinking, and problem-solving, while exploring the language of local architecture. Such experiences enrich children’s creative experience and strengthen their abilities in observation, analysis, and innovation.

Hayy Explorers reflects Art Jameel’s vision of providing a dedicated creative space for children and young people through art programs, workshops, and educational camps tailored to different age groups.

By identifying and nurturing talent and promoting a culture of continuous learning, the initiative further strengthens Jeddah’s position as one of the Kingdom’s cultural and creative hubs, supporting the development of future generations and enriching Saudi Arabia’s artistic landscape.
