The field has emerged as an important concept supporting tourism development.

From the highlands of Al-Shafa and Al-Hada to valleys, parks, resorts, rural lodges, Taif rose farms, traditional markets, and heritage villages, the governorate offers visitors a journey that combines relaxation, cultural discovery, and engagement with the local environment, complemented by its mild climate.
Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Umm Al-Qura University professor Subhy Al-Harthy said tourism psychology examines visitor behavior before, during, and after a trip to better understand travelers' needs, expectations, and the factors influencing their decisions.
He said the success of a tourist destination is no longer determined solely by the beauty of its landscapes but also by the quality of services, ease of access, warm hospitality, effective tour guidance, and attention to detail. Together, these elements create a positive impression that encourages visitors to return and share their experiences with others.
Al-Harthy said Taif offers one of the Kingdom's strongest practical examples of tourism psychology in action, as its natural and cultural assets address visitors' psychological, social, and cultural needs. Its mountain landscapes, valleys, and green spaces foster a sense of calm and relaxation, while rural lodges, farms, traditional markets, and heritage events deepen visitors' engagement with the local identity and enrich their experience through diverse cultural and human dimensions.
He also emphasized that the local community's positive engagement with visitors is one of the most important factors behind the success of tourist destinations. Promoting a culture of hospitality, treating visitors with respect, and delivering services professionally all contribute to a high-quality tourism experience, ultimately strengthening Taif's competitiveness.
