Riyadh, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 01 يوليو 2026ء) The event brought together Vice Minister of Commerce and CEO of SCBC Dr. Eman Almutairi, alongside leading competition experts and heads of competition authorities from Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, and Australia. Organized by SCBC in collaboration with the General Authority for Competition, the event aimed to facilitate the exchange of practical expertise, strengthen partnerships among regional competition authorities, support the development of competition policies, enhance market efficiency, and promote productivity growth and economic diversification.
Over the course of two days, participants discussed a range of key technical issues, including enforcement against cartels and abuse of dominance, merger control frameworks, the development of pro-competition regulations, the governance of digital markets and online platforms, as well as the opportunities and challenges arising from AI technologies.
Commenting on the event, Global Lead, Markets and Competition Policy at the World Bank Group Georgiana Pop said that the Global Knowledge Hub has become an important platform for exchanging expertise and fostering collaboration among competition authorities at both the regional and international levels. She noted that the event showcased valuable experiences in addressing enforcement challenges and regulating digital markets, highlighting the experiences of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Australia, while also advancing bilateral dialogue with participating countries to develop innovative approaches for implementing effective competition policies.
The Global Knowledge Hub is a partnership initiative between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Competitiveness & business Center, and the World Bank Group. Its establishment followed the Bank's designation of Saudi Arabia as a global point of reference for knowledge and the dissemination of economic reform culture. This recognition stems from the Kingdom's pioneering experience in implementing transformative economic reforms, which now serve as a replicable model for countries worldwide seeking to enhance their competitiveness.
