23rd Arab Conference of Heads of Correctional and Reform Institutions Concludes in Cairo

Cairo, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 01 يوليو 2026ء) Saudi Arabia participated in the conference with a delegation from the Ministry of Interior headed by Acting Director General of Prisons Major General Fahd bin Mutlaq Al-Osaimi.

The conference discussed a number of topics, including digital transformation and the use of advanced technologies to strengthen the security and management of penal and correctional institutions, the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, pre-release care programs, and the language of rehabilitation, as well as Arab countries' experiences in developing their penal and correctional institutions.

The conference called on member states to adopt national digital transformation policies, upgrade technological infrastructure, and expand the use of electronic systems in the management of penal and correctional institutions.

It also requested that Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) organize training courses for personnel at these institutions on the use of advanced technologies, support the alignment and implementation of national legislation governing penal and correctional institutions, enhance staff training programs, and strengthen cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to benefit from its technical expertise.
