Al-Ahsa, June (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 18 يونيو 2026ء) Farmers have ensured the sustainability of its cultivation by preserving local seeds and selectively choosing superior plants season after season, resulting in a locally developed variety with unique characteristics that distinguish it from many other cucurbit species.
Seasonal agriculture specialist and wholesaler Abdullah Nazem Al-Salem explained that the Hasawi watermelon season began approximately three weeks ago, joining the diverse range of summer fruits produced in the oasis.
He added that the fruit has gained a strong position in local markets thanks to its quality, nutritional value, distinctive flavor, and aroma, with some consumers also favoring it as a juice.
These watermelons are rich in water, dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and natural carotenoids, and are low in calories.
