Armed Forces Quran Memorization Competitions for Military Personnel and Children of Ministry of Defense Staff Launched in Makkah

Makkah, April (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 08 أبريل 2026ء) The two competitions are organized by the General Administration of Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces, in the presence of Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Pilot Hamid bin Rafea Al-Omari.

The opening ceremony began with a speech by Director General of the General Administration of Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces and General Supervisor of the competition Major General Dr. Misfer bin Hassan Al-Issa, in which he welcomed the attendees and participants, affirming that these competitions reflect the Kingdom’s care for the holy Quran under the support and patronage of the wise leadership.

He indicated that the holy Quran serves as a guiding framework that promotes faith-based and moral values and helps instill the principles of strength, discipline, and steadfastness in the lives of both military personnel and civilians.

Afterward, the director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces delivered a speech, affirming that the competition reflects the continued care and attention given to the holy Quran in the Kingdom.

He noted that the ministry’s focus, under the directives of Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, extends beyond carrying out defense duties and safeguarding national capabilities to include building individuals in faith and thought.

He added that, in light of the rapid developments and changes worldwide, the holy Quran is the strongest source of resilience in facing challenges and maintaining steadfastness.

This was followed by the automated sorting of the contestants, after which the accompanying exhibition, organized by the General Administration of Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces alongside the two competitions, was inaugurated.

The exhibition aims to enhance systematic understanding of the holy Quran and Sunnah in contemporary awareness issues.

The two competitions include five categories: memorization of the entire Quran, twenty parts, ten parts, five parts, and three parts, with total prizes exceeding SAR 1.8 million.
