SASO Issues First Quality Mark For Carbon-Cured Concrete

Riyadh, October (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 21 اكتوبر 2025ء) The initiative is expected to contribute to lowering carbon emissions and support Saudi Arabia's long-term climate objectives, including its target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060.

The initiative, as part of the ministry's CCE approach, helps utilize carbon as an economically valuable element and promotes the transition toward sustainable construction methods and materials, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to Saudi Vision 2030 objectives regarding sustainability and climate change.

The step further contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of the concrete and construction industries, which are among the most challenging sectors to decarbonize.

Carbon-cured concrete is distinguished by its enhanced strength and durability during the early hardening stages. The mixture allows for a lower proportion of cement in the production process, which in turn reduces carbon emissions while permanently storing captured carbon within the material. This aligns closely with the core pillars of the CCE in terms of reduction, reuse, recycling, and removal of emissions.
