Cinema Incentive Programs Boost Saudi Films, Attract over SAR1 Billion in Production Investments

Riyadh, September (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 30 سبتمبر 2025ء) Through rebate programs and the Daw' (Light) grants program, 64 projects have already been supported, with more than 23 new projects expected to be signed before the end of this year. In 2025 alone, the commission received 24 applications for the rebate program and 13 applications for the Daw' program.

According to an economic impact analysis, the programs generated on average 1,230 jobs annually between 2020 and 2024, including around 950 jobs through the rebate scheme and 280 jobs through Daw'. The programs also created indirect benefits across other sectors, with every five jobs in film production generating two additional jobs in related industries. In 2024, more than 2,500 crew members took part in media projects, supported by over 500 local companies and 450 international firms.

Saudi films also recorded strong box office results. Ticket sales reached SAR56.8 million in 2024 and rose to SAR120.4 million by September 2025. Over the four-year period from 2020 to 2024, spending by productions benefiting from incentive and grant programs exceeded SAR1 billion. The industry also contributed to the local economy through tourism and travel, registering more than 2,000 hotel nights and 1,000 domestic flights during 2023 and 2024.
