SWA Reports SAR4.1 Billion Impact from RO Transition in Shuaiba

Riyadh, September (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 30 سبتمبر 2025ء) In 2025, SWA approved an early exit from the production system of Arabian Light fuels, five years ahead of the planned discontinuation date in 2030. This decision ensures a reliable water supply and enhances production capacity by adopting more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

The authority reported that the financial savings will be directed toward boosting investments in innovative projects that promote the sustainability of water resources and the development of modern technologies. Furthermore, the initiative contributes to balancing economic and environmental goals by displacing approximately 45 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and saving over 22 million barrels of Arabian Light Oil annually. It also accelerates the completion of the liquid fuels displacement initiative and supports the system’s net-zero targets.

SWA emphasized that this strategic shift is part of its ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition from thermal technologies to reverse osmosis. It reflects the water sector’s commitment to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and moving toward a more efficient and sustainable future.
