Riyadh, September (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 25 سبتمبر 2025ء) The TGA highlighted that the Kingdom has made remarkable progress, including its 17th global ranking in the World Bank's Maritime Logistics Performance Index, alongside the establishment of new logistics zones and the launch of an integrated container terminal in NEOM, powered by renewable energy, which reflects the country's drive toward a more sustainable maritime sector.
The Kingdom has also strengthened its environmental efforts by reducing emissions, planting 100 million mangrove trees, restoring 200 hectares of coral reefs, and establishing specialized centers for research, rescue, and oil spill response along the Red Sea coasts, underscoring its commitment to marine environmental protection.
Additionally, mangroves play a vital role in protecting coastlines from erosion and storms, acting as natural barriers that reduce shoreline degradation and mitigate wave force. They are also among the most effective trees for absorbing and storing carbon dioxide, contributing significantly to climate change mitigation.
In the area of human capacity development, the Kingdom successfully trained more than 3,200 maritime trainees, increased the number of vessels under the Saudi flag by 80%, and took the lead in empowering women through the organization of international workshops to support female professionals in this vital sector.
Saudi Arabia also hosted the second Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference 2025, organized by TGA on September 3 to 4, which brought together broad participation from global maritime leaders.
The conference reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening international partnerships and adopting the latest technological and financial solutions to achieve a more efficient and sustainable maritime industry.
These achievements embody the Kingdom's strategic location connecting three continents, while advancing the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing its role as a global logistics hub and a key gateway for international maritime trade.
