Riyadh, June (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 02 يونيو 2025ء) The completed projects include the construction of new power substations, network automation, and upgrades to transmission and distribution networks that enable remote management through the main control center, operated and supervised by highly qualified national personnel.
The company disclosed that it had carried out a series of strategic and groundbreaking projects, the first of their kind in the region. These initiatives involved installing gas-insulated transformers to replace oil-insulated ones for improved operational efficiency, expanding automation within the distribution network, and upgrading power and transmission systems. Additionally, digital control and monitoring systems were developed to enhance the reliability of the electrical infrastructure.
SEC Acting CEO Eng. Khalid bin Salem Al-Ghamdi stated that this year’s operational plan is being executed under the supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Energy, with direct support from Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and in coordination with relevant entities within and outside the energy ecosystem.
Al-Ghamdi stressed the company’s commitment to harnessing all its technical and human capabilities to provide reliable and safe electricity services through the readiness of the operations and control center and by increasing on-site presence in Makkah, Madinah, and the holy sites. This will be achieved through 61 dispatch centers distributed across the central area and pilgrims' residential zones, operating around the clock. These centers are supported by more than 2,208 engineers, technicians, and specialists from qualified national cadres, along with emergency and maintenance teams for power plants and transmission lines. They are further backed by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and field team management systems to enhance response speed and efficiently handle service reports with high quality.
Under the direct supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Energy and in coordination with the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority, the SEC conducted two comprehensive tests of the public electrical network at the holy sites to simulate actual loads during this year’s Hajj season. These tests were carried out to verify the readiness of the network and ensure optimal preparedness to provide electricity services with high reliability and efficiency.
These preparations underscore the commitment of the Kingdom’s energy system to delivering stable and secure electricity services in Makkah and the holy sites, ensuring pilgrims can perform their Hajj rituals with ease and comfort. They also reflect the wise leadership’s dedication to providing the highest quality services to the pilgrims.
