KAMC Launches Remote Cardiac Monitoring Program

Makkah, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 27 أغسطس 2025ء) The initiative aims to advance digital transformation in healthcare by enhancing specialized care for heart patients, expanding access to services, and increasing preventive awareness before treatment. It aligns with the objectives of the 8563, one of the initiatives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The Makkah Health Cluster reported that KAMC has successfully treated its first beneficiary using an extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (EV-ICD). The device was implanted in a Saudi patient suffering from severe heart muscle weakness due to previous heart attacks, compounded by kidney failure requiring hemodialysis.

The medical team explained that the device, placed outside the blood vessels on the left side of the chest, is free of wires inside the heart, thereby reducing the risk of infection. It represents one of the latest advancements in cardiac electrophysiology. The device can also regulate the heartbeat during severe bradycardia, making it particularly suitable for dialysis patients.

The procedure was performed successfully by a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and cardiac technicians. The patient was discharged in stable condition and with full recovery.
