Music Commission Concludes Inaugural Tar Festival

Riyadh, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 24 أغسطس 2025ء) Over four nights, the festival drew large and diverse audiences who enjoyed live performances by eight local artists. Alongside the concerts, visitors explored diverse and interactive experiences, including a traditional craftsmanship market inspired by Riyadh’s Souq Al-Hilla, one of the oldest musical instrument markets in Riyadh. The event also featured interactive musical experiences and handicraft areas, where artisans crafted musical instruments on-site. In addition, photo booths and retail outlets offered products inspired by the festival’s identity.

The festival reflects the commission’s efforts to celebrate Saudi music and to highlight the cultural value of the tar, while presenting it in a modern context that strengthens its presence in today’s music scene.

It also provided a platform to showcase local talent and foster audience engagement with local artists. Many attendees expressed their delight at seeing a dedicated festival celebrating the tar and voiced their anticipation for future editions.

CEO of the Music Commission Paul Pacifico stated that the festival offers a unique opportunity to showcase the rich diversity of tar rhythms and reinforce their role as a cornerstone of Saudi musical identity. He emphasized that the event aims to bridge the rich heritage of the past with the creativity of the present, inspiring younger generations of artists to incorporate tar rhythms into their artistic expressions.
