Arar, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز 18 أغسطس 2025ء) Classified as a fast-growing, wild plant, Calotropis procera has proven remarkably resilient, flourishing in the region's harsh desert environment. According to specialists, its high tolerance for extreme temperatures and severe drought has facilitated its quick expansion.
The plant, which can reach up to five meters in height, is a perennial, evergreen shrub with brittle, woody branches and spongy bark. Its most distinguishing features are its prolific bluish-green leaves and the thick, milky sap that oozes from all parts of the plant. Calotropis procera flowers year-round with green and purple blossoms.
While unpalatable to most livestock due to its chemical compounds, the plant does offer some benefits. Specialists note that its extensive root system helps stabilize sandy soil and prevent erosion. It also serves as a source of nectar for bees and its fibers have traditionally been used to make ropes and wicks.
