National Islamic Front of Afghanistan Hopes for Progress at Intra-Afghan Talks in Moscow

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th May, 2019) The National Islamic Front of Afghanistan (NIFA) political party hopes that the 2nd Intra-Afghan Peace Conference in Moscow, which is scheduled for Wednesday, will bring a breakthrough, NIFA leader Sayed Hamed Gailani said on Tuesday, stressing that the fact that representatives of different Afghan forces were gathering for discussions was a breakthrough itself.

"We are hoping that there should be a breakthrough. But the fact that we are getting together in Moscow, which is hosting it, and we are assembling here to examine the situation and future course of action for the country itself is a big breakthrough," Gailani told reporters.

He added that the upcoming conference would be a "follow-up" of the first one, which was held in Moscow from February 5-6.

"And what is going to be the next step, that will be determined when the talks begin," Gailani said.
