Pakistan Appreciates Russia's Role in Bringing Peace, Stability to Syria - Ambassador
Pakistan appreciates the role played by Russia in fighting the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) in Syria as well as the efforts aimed at bringing stability and peace to this country, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Qazi Khalillulah said on Friday
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) Pakistan appreciates the role played by Russia in fighting the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) in Syria as well as the efforts aimed at bringing stability and peace to this country, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Qazi Khalillulah said on Friday.
"Syria is a brotherly country and we appreciate the role played by Russia in dealing firmly with IS over there and we also appreciate the Russian efforts in promoting peace and stability in Syria," Khalillulah said during a press conference.
As the armed conflict in Syria seems to be nearing its end, the Syrian government has already launched the post-war reconstruction process and started welcoming back tens of thousands of Syrians who were forced to seek asylum in other countries.
Russia has been providing military assistance to Damascus throughout the conflict and is now helping Syria with the reconstruction process and the repatriation of refugees.
