German Tabloid Refuses to Explain Use of Nazi Term in Regard to RT Deutsch Broadcaster

BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) The German Bild tabloid refused on Wednesday to explain the use of the Nazi term Feindsender (enemy broadcaster) in regard to the RT Deutsch broadcaster as well as its further deletion from the article, the Axel Springer media concern told Sputnik.

"We ask you to be receptive to the fact that we principally do not comment on editorial decisions," Axel Springer said three days after the request on the issue was made.

On January 10, Bild issued the article, which said that there is "an increasing pressure aimed at banning the Feindsender with the United States having already listed RT as a foreign agent.

" Later the word Feindsender was replaced with the word "TV-channel."

The term Feindsender was used in Nazi Germany to describe radio broadcasters of the country's rivals or direct enemies. The German citizens, who listened to such broadcasters, could face death penalty.

Within recent several years, Russian media, especially RT and the Sputnik news agency, have faced significant pressure in the United States and the European Union over accusations of the alleged spread of propaganda. The media outlets as well as the Russian government have refuted the allegations pointing out that such pressure was violating the freedom of media.
