E-challan to be issued to helmet rule violators, LHC orders

The Punjab government has declared it mandatory for motorcyclists to wear helmets

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 21st December, 2018) The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to send e-challan to people violating the helmet rule.

A hearing on implementation of traffic rules was held in the LHC on Friday.

According to media reports, the LHC ordered that e-challan be issued to the motorcyclists not wearing a helmet.

The traffic police officer appeared before the court in the case.

The Punjab government has declared it mandatory for motorcyclists to wear helmets and has introduced fines to be imposed on those found violating traffic laws.

The City Traffic Police (CTP) under their ongoing grand operation against helmetless bikers have impounded a number of motorcycles during special campaign launched against the rules violators.

Moreover, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had imposed helmet rule for pillion riders from December 1.

Moreover, to accelerate the efforts to enforce helmet rule, the traffic police had asked the owners of petrol pumps to refuse to give petrol to those motorcyclists who try to purchase it without wearing helmet.
