Fawad Chaudhry condemns Prof Javed’s death while on judicial remand

The picture of his handcuffed dead body went viral on social media.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 22nd December, 2018) Professor Muhammad Javed, former CEO of Lahore sub-campus of Sargodha University, died of cardiac arrest on Friday while in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody.

The picture of his handcuffed dead body went viral on social media.

The NAB had denied the reports of Professor Javed dying in the bureau’s custody. The NAB spokesperson clarified that Javed was sent to jail on judicial remand two months ago in October.

Punjab chief secretary took notice of the incident after the pictures of the CEO’s handcuffed dead body went viral on social media.

However, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has condemned the incident in strong words.

Taking a dig at Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif, the minister said, “If you are powerful and rich, you won’t face a problem and a bungalow in Ministers Colony will be declared sub-jail in the vast interest of democracy.

You can also benefit from the greenbelt in front of the house in the name of security. You can do audit of the government as well.”

“But if you are poor, your handcuffed dead body will be shown so people can get a lesson,” he wrote in another tweet.

Prof Javed was lodged in Camp Jail on judicial remand in connection with Sargodha University illegal campuses case since October.

He was shifted to Services Hospital Lahore for treatment on Friday after cardiac pain but he could not survive.

He was accused of establishing illegal sub-campuses under public private partnership policy and jeopardising future of thousands of students.
