Turkish Forces 'Neutralize' 15 PKK Militants in Northern Iraq - General Staff

As many as 15 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were either killed or captured in counter-terrorism operations by the Turkish forces in northern Iraq, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Saturday.

ANKARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th November, 2018) As many as 15 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were either killed or captured in counter-terrorism operations by the Turkish forces in northern Iraq, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Saturday.

"[A total of] 15 members of the separatist terrorist organization [PKK], plotting armed attacks on our bases, were neutralized as a result of aviation operations on November 9 in Avashin, Gara and Zap areas in northern Iraq," the statement, published on the General Staff's Twitter account, read.

Tensions between Ankara and the Kurds escalated in July 2015 when a ceasefire between Turkey and the PKK collapsed over a series of attacks allegedly committed by the PKK militants.

The Turkish forces are involved in anti-PKK raids across the country and in northern Iraq.
