MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st October, 2018) UK and Canadian lawmakers have officially invited Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to attend an international joint hearing on November 27 devoted to company's recent failures related in particular to Cambridge Analytica scandal and subsequent data breaches, a letter to Zuckerberg, published by the UK parliament, said.

"We plan to hold a special joint parliamentary hearing at the Westminster Parliament on Tuesday 27th November - an 'international grand committee' on disinformation and fake news ... No such joint hearing has ever been held ... We call on you to take up this historic opportunity to tell parliamentarians from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond about the measures Facebook is taking to halt the spread of disinformation on your platform, and to protect user data.

We would like to receive your response by Wednesday 7 November," the letter said.

The letter was written by Damian Collins, the chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee in the UK parliament and Bob Zimmer, the chair of the Canadian Standing Committee on Access to Information.

"The hearing on Tuesday 27 November will allow collaborative scrutiny by national committees of both the Westminster parliament and the Parliament of Canada in their examinations of digital policy including disinformation and governance of the internet," the UK parliament said in a press release.
