Russia Begins Producing Parts for Ukrainian-Made Engines for An-124 Aircraft - Rostec

The companies of Russia's Rostec state corporation have begun to produce parts needed for repairs of Ukrainian-made D-18T engines that are in An-124 Ruslan strategic airlift jet aircraft, Anatoly Serdyukov, the industrial director of Rostec's aviation unit, told Sputnik on Friday.

GELENDZHIK (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 07th September, 2018) The companies of Russia's Rostec state corporation have begun to produce parts needed for repairs of Ukrainian-made D-18T engines that are in An-124 Ruslan strategic airlift jet aircraft, Anatoly Serdyukov, the industrial director of Rostec's aviation unit, told Sputnik on Friday.

"D-18T engines are repaired by a firm that is not part of [Russia's] United Engine Corporation [UEC] or Rostec. On the basis of cooperation, the UEC is producing separate parts and assembly units for the engines of this type.

The work has already begun," Serdyukov said.

Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is set to begin working on a new transport aircraft that could replace the An-124 Ruslan, the company's president, Yury Slyusar, said in August.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said in late July that the existing fleet of An-124 aircraft could be used until 2050 as long as their electronic systems were upgraded and Ukrainian-produced engines were replaced with Russian-made ones.
