Russian-N.Korean Defense Cooperation Helps Ensure Peace on Korean Peninsula - Ministry

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) Bilateral cooperation of the Russian and North Korean defense ministries will further develop for the sake of peace and security on the Korean peninsula, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Fomin attended the ceremony of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the state of North Korea at the latter's Embassy in Moscow.

"Mutually beneficial cooperation of the defense ministries of the two states will further develop in order to ensure security and stability on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia as a whole," the official said.

The situation on the Korean peninsula has significantly improved over the last few months, with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un pledging to give up his nuclear aspirations and having held several rounds of talks with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in and a summit with US President Donald Trump.
