UK Ambassador Visits Russian Foreign Ministry Over Skripal Case - Embassy

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) UK Ambassador to Russia Laurie Bristow visited the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday after new data on the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the UK city of Salisbury was revealed, the embassy told Sputnik.

Earlier in the day, the UK Crown Prosecution Service said that it had sufficient evidence to charge two Russian nationals, named as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, of the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

Moreover, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said that the Russian military intelligence was behind the attack on the Skripals. Russian Envoy to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin, in turn, said that the suspects' photos and Names released by London did not prove Russia's involvement in the attack.

On March 4, former Russian double-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious on a bench at a shopping center in the UK city of Salisbury. The United Kingdom and its allies promptly accused Moscow of having orchestrated the attack with what UK experts claim was the A234 nerve agent. Russia has strongly refuted the allegations as groundless. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the case is falling apart due to absence of any proof of Moscow's involvement.
