Number of Tourists Visiting Crimea in 2018 Surpasses 5 Million - Resorts Minister

KOKTEBEL (Crimea) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) Crimea has seen 5.3 million tourists come to visit the peninsula so far this year, with this figure being one million higher than the one recorded in August of last year, Crimean Minister of Resorts and Tourism Vadim Volchenko said on Friday.

"As of today, a total of 5,300,000 tourists [visited Crimea in 2018].

Currently, the difference between last August and this August amounts to over one million tourists," Volchenko told journalists at a press conference.

The minister also said that he expected more than six million people to visit Crimea in 2018, adding that so far, over one million vehicles, including 10,000 buses, have traveled across the newly-opened Crimean Bridge.

The road section of the Crimean Bridge, which connects the peninsula with the rest of Russia, was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 15.
