New US Sanctions on Russia Applies to Arms Sales, Denial of Credit - Federal Register

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) An unpublished notice in the US Federal Register details the sanctions the State Department will impose on Russia on Monday, August 27 in connection with the nerve agent attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, including arms sales and denial of US government credit or other financial assistance.

"Termination of (a) sales to Russia under the Arms Export Control Act of any defense articles, defense services, or design and construction services, and (b) licenses for the export to Russia of any item on the United States Munitions List," the yet to be published notice said on Friday.

� "Denial to Russia of any credit, credit guarantees, or other financial assistance by any department, agency, or instrumentality of the United States Government, including the Export-Import Bank of the United States."

The sanctions, which were first announced earlier this month, also end foreign military financing for Russia, prohibit exports of national security-sensitive goods and technology and ends all assistance to Russia under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961.

Russia has repeatedly denied any role in the apparent attack on the Skripals and has offered its assistance to the United Kingdom as it investigates the incident.
