Nawaz avoids question about Shehbaz’s support to new policy outside Accountability Court
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 16th May, 2018) Reports regarding rifts between the Sharif family keep surfacing since Nawaz Sharif was disqualified as the prime minister but they have always been rejected.
Nawaz Sharif formulated a new strategy to target national institutions after being disqualified. He went hard on judiciary and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in most of his statements and said that the cases underway in NAB against Sharif family are a revengeful activity.
This new strategy raised a question if Nawaz’s brother Shehbaz Sharif also stands by him in this narrative. Although Shehbaz supported Nawaz at multiple occasions, some sources said that Shehbaz also opposes elder brother over his new policy; however, he does not say anything out of respect.
Nawaz’s recent statement over Mumbai attacks has created a new hype in Pakistani politics. The former prime minister is being criticizing for his remarks.
A journalist asked Nawaz Sharif outside the Accountability Court today if Shehbaz supports him in his policy. Nawaz however did not give any response and walked away silently.
When the journalist repeated the question, Maryam Nawaz said that yes, Nawaz and Shehbaz are together.
According to political analysts, there are many differences in the party over Nawaz’s new policy while some leaders have even refused to defend this strategy.
