PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi vows not to allow rigging in Senate election

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said it is unbecoming of courts to use inappropriate names while referring to elected representatives.

HAFIZABAD, (Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2018) : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said it is unbecoming of courts to use inappropriate Names while referring to elected representatives. Addressing a ceremony in connection with the launch of Health Insurance Card Scheme in Hafizabad today, he said every institution should work within its constitutional limits. In a veiled criticism of the apex court judges, he said it was incorrect to use wrong names for elected representatives.

He said political decisions are taken at polling stations. It was imperative for the progress of the country that every institution should work within its domain and respect each other, he added. PM Abbasi said the path of those who were using their wealth to get elected to the Upper House of the parliament (Senate) would be blocked. Rigging will not be allowed in the upcoming Senate elections, he stressed. He said the judgments of the courts had been implemented in letter and spirit.

It was also important for the country that the decisions taken by the parliament should also be accepted and respected, he added. The premier said if the law passed by the parliament will be rejected , it will amount to negation of public opinion. Abbasi said the government had put the country on the path of development, successfully tackling major challenges confronting the country. He said over the last five years, unprecedented number of projects were initiated and completed. He said sufficient gas has been available today and new connections are being provided. About the health card scheme, he said the success of this scheme has also been acknowledged at the world level.
