Russia, China Block UN Security Council Resolution on Ceasefire in Syria's Northwest
UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2019) Russia and China blocked on Thursday a UN Security Council resolution that called for a ceasefire in the northwest of Syria.
The two permanent states of the UN Security Council blocked the initiative, which was proposed by Kuwait, Germany and Belgium, and called for a halt of all hostilities in the province of Idlib.
Russia and China have co-sponsored another resolution that stipulates the ceasefire regime should not apply to operations against terrorists from organizations designated by the UN Security Council.
