US President Donald Trump on Thursday congratulated India's Prime Minister Narenda Modi and his party after their landslide election victory, saying he looks forward to continuing the important work the two countries are doing together
WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd May, 2019) US President Donald Trump on Thursday congratulated India's Prime Minister Narenda Modi and his party after their landslide election victory, saying he looks forward to continuing the important work the two countries are doing together.
"Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory! Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!" Trump said via Twitter.
The Indian Election Commission said earlier on in the day, citing preliminary results of the vote, that NDA, led by Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has surpassed the 272-mandate threshold needed for winning the country's general elections.
So far, the results show BJR is set to win about 300 of the parliament's 542 seats. Gandhi's Congress party expected to take 51 seats.
