Trump Obstructing Justice With Pledge to Not Honor Congressional Subpoenas - Pelosi
US President Donald Trump's pledge to fight all subpoenas issued by congressional Democrats amounts to obstruction of justice, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters on Tuesday
"The statements being made by the president of the Untied States - he has given a blanket statement that he is not going to honor any subpoena - is obstruction of justice," Pelosi said during her weekly press briefing. "Many of the statements that the administration has made have been about obstruction of justice. We are in a very challenging place."
On April 23, Trump told reporters that the White House will fight all subpoenas in relation to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on the Russia investigation.
The House Judiciary Committee is investigating whether the president obstructed justice amid Mueller's investigation into allegations of Trump-Russia collusion.
The Mueller report found no evidence of collusion between Trump and his campaign with Russia in the 2016 US presidential election. However, Mueller described 10 episodes that may constitute obstruction of justice by the US president.
Russia has repeatedly denied any claims of interference in the US political system, saying the allegations were made up to excuse the election loss of Trump's opponent as well as deflect public attention from actual instances of election fraud and corruption.
