NASA Asks SpaceX to Delay Resupply Mission to ISS Amid Power System Work

The SpaceX Company has been asked to delay its scheduled launch of an unmanned supply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for at least two days, NASA said in a statement on Tuesday

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th April, 2019) The SpaceX Company has been asked to delay its scheduled launch of an unmanned supply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for at least two days, NASA said in a statement on Tuesday.

"We've requested SpaceX move off from May 1 to the launch of their 17th commercial resupply mission to the Space Station as teams continue work on the station's power system," NASA said in a Twitter message. "The earliest possible launch opportunity is no earlier than May 3."

On April 29, the ISS operating team identified a problem with one of the station's Main Bus Switching Units that distributes power to two of the eight power channels on the station, NASA explained in a blog message also on Tuesday.

"There are no immediate concerns for the crew or the station. Teams are working on a plan to robotically replace the failed unit and restore full power to the station system," the NASA blog message said.

Weather conditions look good for a Friday morning launch from Cape Canaveral of the Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Dragon spacecraft with its thousands of Pounds of supplies for the ISS crew, Florida Today reported on Tuesday.
