Putin Congratulates Orthodox Christians on Easter

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th April, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated on Sunday Orthodox Christians and all the Russian citizens celebrating Easter.

"For centuries, this ancient Christian holiday has been filling hearts of people with joy, hope and belief in the triumph of life and love. [It] symbolizes the unbreakable bond of times and spiritual traditions that contribute to the unification of our people," Putin's congratulatory message read, as quoted by the Kremlin's press service.

Putin stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian institutions played an important role in preserving Russian historical and cultural heritage, in strengthening family values and in bringing up new generations.

"This multifaceted and truly selfless work deserves the highest appreciation," the president added.

Putin along with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin attended on Sunday the festive Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
