China Showcases Nuclear-Powered Submarine, Destroyer at Naval Parade in Qingdao

China showcased for the first time a nuclear-powered submarine and the first of its new generation of guided missile destroyers at Tuesday's international naval parade in the western port city of Qingdao, which marked the 70th anniversary of the Chinese navy, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the scene

QINGDAO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd April, 2019) China showcased for the first time a nuclear-powered submarine and the first of its new generation of guided missile destroyers at Tuesday's international naval parade in the western port city of Qingdao, which marked the 70th anniversary of the Chinese navy, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the scene.

The parade featured 32 ships that were led by China's latest and largest Type 094 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine.

Additionally, the Nanchang, China's first Type 055 destroyer, was displayed for the first time to the event's attendees, who represented over 60 countries.

China is holding a range of military events from April 22-25 to commemorate the navy's anniversary. About 20 foreign warships from more than 10 countries also participated in the naval parade.

According the navy's press service, the organization of such a large-scale and unique international event fully reflects the concept promoted by Chinese President Xi Jinping called "the common destiny of mankind" and serves as a way for foreign powers to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation.
