ALGIERS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th April, 2019) Algeria's interim president, Abdelkader Bensalah, has set new presidential elections in the crisis-hit country for July 4, state-run news agency APS reported on Wednesday.

"President Abdelkader Bensalah on April 9, on the day he assumed office, signed a decree on convening an election commission to hold presidential elections on July 4, 2019," the agency said citing a statement by the presidency.

Bensalah replaced ailing president Abdelaziz Bouteflika last week amid mass anti-government protests.
