Swiss Delegation to Take Part in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - Roscongress
A delegation from Switzerland will participate in this year's edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will be held on June 6-8, and will also take part in the Swiss-Russian Business Dialogue during the event, Roscongress Foundation, the organizer of the forum, said on Tuesday
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd April, 2019) A delegation from Switzerland will participate in this year's edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will be held on June 6-8, and will also take part in the Swiss-Russian Business Dialogue during the event, Roscongress Foundation, the organizer of the forum, said on Tuesday.
"This year, Switzerland launched an initiative to organize two events at the SPIEF 2019: a bilateral Swiss-Russian Business Dialogue and a panel discussion on corporate social responsibility as a factor for sustainable development. The Swiss delegation will be officially represented at the SPIEF 2019 by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch and State Secretary for International Finance Daniela Stoffel," Roscongress said in a statement.
There are currently over 600 enterprises with Swiss capital operating in Russia, while Switzerland has also opened official representative offices in the Russian cities of Samara and Novosibirsk, according to Roscongress.
"Last year, almost 200 representatives from our country, including officials and business representatives, attended the Forum. This year, the heads of leading Swiss companies have already confirmed they will attend. Such interest from the business community is an indicator of the impressive practical return the Forum offers as a platform for building international dialogue and finding new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between countries" Swiss Ambassador to Russia Yves Rossier said at a meeting with Adviser to the Russian president Anton Kobyakov, which was devoted to Switzerland's participation in the forum, as quoted in the statement.
SPIEF, held annually in Russia's second largest city of St. Petersburg, is a major global platform for communication between business representatives and the discussion of crucial economic issues. Last year's edition brought together around 17,000 participants from over 140 countries.
