UNDP to extend technical, capacity building support to HR Ministry
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal Ministry of Human Rights and the United Nations Development Program
ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 26th March, 2019) A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal Ministry of Human Rights and the United Nations Development Program.The signing ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Human Rights at the newly inaugurated ministry's premises.
Under the MoU, UNDP will be extending technical and capacity building support to MOHR with a focus on institutional digitization and the establishment of a Human Rights Information Management System to better collect, collate, analyze and report on human rights achievements and challenges in Pakistan.
The MOU outlines the scope of cooperation between UNDP and MOHR for the forthcoming two years.On the occasion, UNDP Resident Representative Ignacio Artaza highlighted that UNDP Pakistan sees signing of the MOU with the Ministry of Human Rights as an important landmark not just for UNDP, but the UN system in Pakistan, and an important foundation for institutional collaboration with ministry to promote rights-based development.
Dr. Shireen Mazari said that Ministry of human Rights is concerned and working vigilantly with all respective stakeholders, partners and UN organizations on different areas related to human rights.
She said we are devising significant new laws and ensuring the proper implementation of existing laws adding that stress is paid to create awareness among masses regarding their fundamental rights.
She said Ministry of Human Rights wants to enhance cooperation, collaboration and work collectively with all stakeholders and partners including UN agencies in the cause and protection of human rights.
She shared that our ministry establishing the systematic human rights related data base in this regard UNDP will assist the ministry in maintaining and strengthening linkages with relevant national and provincial stakeholders.
UNDP will also extend technical assistance and support for development of initiatives and systems including establishment of Information Management System for human rights database. NNI
