Police to register case against ex-administrator Karachi for abusing cops

KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 26th March, 2019) Former administrator Karachi Fahim Zaman has threatened on-duty cops in city's red zone after the latter sought national identity card from driver of the ex-Karachi Metropolitan Authority official during snap-checking on Tuesday.

According to police, Zaman was sitting beside his driver in a vehicle when the cops flagged down their car for checking. The driver lost his cool when the police asked him to show his national identity card.

Police said they could stop any vehicle in the red zone if they find it suspicious. The police claimed that Zaman abused the police and asked his driver to run over the cops.

Later, the ex-administrator left the spot without adhering to the police orders.

Police have now decided to lodge FIR against the former administrator for hurling threats to the police. DIG south said a legal action would be taken against the ex-official of KMC.The law enforcers also decided to include sections of law violations in the case.

"Misbehaviour with the police will not be tolerated at any cost," said the DIG. The senior cop said the ex-KMC official could also be arrested. The cops who were deployed on the duty for snap-checking also recorded their video narrating the incident. NNI
