US Ambassador Sam Brownback will embark on his first-ever trip to Hong Kong and Taiwan as ambassador-at-Large on March 6-13, the US Department of State said in a media note on Wednesday

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th March, 2019) US Ambassador Sam Brownback will embark on his first-ever trip to Hong Kong and Taiwan as ambassador-at-Large on March 6-13, the US Department of State said in a media note on Wednesday.

"In Hong Kong, Ambassador Brownback will deliver keynote remarks at the Foreign Correspondents' Club on religious freedom in China," the media note said.

Brownback will also meet with local religious leaders, members of faith communities as well as religious studies faculty and students to discuss countering China's influence in the effort to advance religious freedom, the State Department added.

Brownback will then travel to Taiwan to deliver keynote remarks at the 2019 Regional Religious Freedom Forum: A Civil Society Dialogue on Securing Religious Freedom in the Indo-Pacific Region, the note said.

This forum will convene a wide range of participants, including government officials, civil society representatives and experts to discuss efforts to improve religious freedom in the region, according to the State Department.
