Govt not fulfilled promises made to tribal people: Sirajul Haq

BAJAUR (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 03rd March, 2019) Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the tribal people were great benefactors of the country but the governments so far had not fulfilled their promises made to them.

He was addressing the tribal elders at Inayat Kale in Bajaur. He also talked to the media on the occasion.Sirajul Haq said that none of the promises made to the tribal people at the time of the merger with the Khyber PK had been fulfilled.

The infrastructure in the area had been totally destroyed and hospitals and schools and colleges had been demolished. The people were moving from one place to the other because of poverty and lack of basic facilities.

The JI chief said that the National Finance Commission Award had approved three per cent of the total revenue for the former tribal areas.

This was beside a package of Rs, One hundred billion for building and rehabilitation of the infrastructure.

However, these funds had not been released due to which the tribal people were having a feeling of deprivation and neglect.Sirajul Haq said that the area needed girls schools and colleges on priority basis besides a girls college and university.

He said there was no medical college or university in the former seven tribal agencies. He said that the unemployment in the area could be tackled by setting up factories.The JI chief said the former tribal areas must be given their due share in the CPEC projects so that there was no cause for a bias or hatred against the centre and provincial governments.
