MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) More than 820 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, in total 824 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territories of foreign states: 127 people (38 women and 65 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 697 people (209 women and 355 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

The center added that as many as 67 internally displaced Syrians had returned to their place of permanent residence in the country over the given period.

In addition, two Syrians have received medical assistance in the province of Deir ez-Zor over the past day.

According to the bulletin, Syrian military engineering units defused 26 explosive devices in the country over the past 24 hours.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that have been seized by terrorists since 2011, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating more than five million refugees who, according to the UN Refugee Agency, fled to neighboring countries.
