Mohammed Mira and Jess Towl win Dubai Desert Warrior Challenge in Al Marmoom

The UAE’s Mohammed Mira and Great Britain’s Jess Towl stamped their class on the Ultimate Warrior Pro course of the 2019 Dubai Desert Warrior Challenge in Al Marmoom at the weekend, winning the men’s and women’s crown respectively

DUBAI (Pakistan Point News - 25th February, 2019) The UAE’s Mohammed Mira and Great Britain’s Jess Towl stamped their class on the Ultimate Warrior Pro course of the 2019 Dubai Desert Warrior Challenge in Al Marmoom at the weekend, winning the men’s and women’s crown respectively.

Mira blazed through the 10km and 20-plus obstacles in 44 minutes and 51.8 seconds to finish ahead of Colombia’s Marco Antonio Castro (45:28.5) and his Emirati compatriot Mohammed Al Hassani (50:23.7).

Towl, a regular at the triathlons and challenges taking place in the country, clocked 58 minutes and 23.3 seconds to win ahead of Frenchwoman Angelique Chetaneau (1:07:19.7) and Gina Garcia of the UAE (1:08:11.4). In the Ultimate Warrior Pro team event, Team UAE X were fastest with a time of one hour, 23minutes and 04.1, and were followed by GDRFA Dubai (1:34:18.0) and Department of Finance (2:02:00.0).

HE Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of Dubai sports Council (DSC), Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC and Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Events Insurance Committee in Dubai, graced the event with their presence and presented the podium-finishers with their medals. HE Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC and Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Events Insurance Committee in Dubai, graced the event with their presence and presented the winners with their medals.

Supported by Dubai Sports Council, the Desert Warrior Challenge (DWC) has been a regular part of the adrenaline junkie’s must-register events since 2014, thrilling even the most avid Desert Warriors with challenging new obstacles in every edition.

A huge number of participants – of different age and nationalities – took part in this year’s Challenge, many of them from government entities, including Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), who is also a member of Dubai Sports Council’s Board of Directors.
